The Best Movies Released in 2021

At the start of 2020, most people were not sure of the fate of movies and other films because most movie theatres were closing down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Most movies only had the option of using streaming-only, which was not a favourable choice to many.

However, now that 2022 is here and things are almost going back to normal movie theatres are back in business, it may be hard to predict the kind of movies that theatres will release because there has been a hint of hybrid releases. The goodness is, you can read this list of the best five movies released in 2021

1. Spiderman : No way Home

Before this film came into existence, the Avengers Endgame was among the best in its category. However, Spiderman: No way Home will make you think otherwise as it features a teenage hero with magical spells who has to fight against supervillains.

No way Home is quite different from most blockbusters in moral lessons. This is because it focuses on how important second chances are and just like most superhero movies, it emphasises that heavy lies the crown.

2. Tick Tick Boom

It is interesting to note that this is so far the best musical movie in 2021. Even though the main character, played by Andrew Garfield, is struggling to complete the last song that will halt his sci-fi rock musical, he is an amazing singer with a strong set of lungs.

He plays a vital role in the film that perfectly embraces inspiration and creativity at large. The film director ensures that he captures all scenes perfectly in that; one does not have to love theatre for them to understand what the movie is all about.

3. Test Pattern

The movie features a beautiful love story that captures van and Renesha. These two first met at a bar and when they bump into each other at the grocery store, their love story begins to unfold. However, the scenes begin to be quite contradictory as the movie turns out not to be a love story after all.

Test pattern is about the body autonomy of a black woman Renesha and how her dignity is ripped off by a stranger and again, the man she loves does the same to her. The director Shatara Michell Ford captures scenes of how Renesha goes out to drink with her friend, and they fall prey to two men who encourage them to eat weed gummies and drink alcohol.

The following day, Renesha wakes up in a strange bed and does not know how she landed there. Later on, she gets her boyfriend to help her get a rape kit and it turns out that getting one in Texas is quite the hustle.

Evan later becomes oppressive instead of supporting her throughout the entire ordeal. The charming white man she fell in love with turns out to violate her and disregard her feelings. Michell Ford uses music to perfectly bring out Renesha’s feelings in the movie.

4. ‘CODA’

Sian Heder managed to create an emotional film that had many weeping at the movie theatre. Great movie directors have done a couple of great movies that managed to touch the hearts of many.

The director of ‘CODA’ perfectly features a 17-year-old girl Emilia Jones who discovers that she can sing when she joins the school choir. She is having a hard time balancing between her new talent and helping out her deaf parents with the fishing business.

5. The Power of the Dog

This movie was released on 17th November 2021 on Netflix, and it has had so many people talking about pursuing his masculine ideal in western parts of America. It also captures Benedict Cumberbatch, a hardworking rancher (Phil Burbank) who enjoys earning an honest living on the ranch. He is also proud because, even though he has few amenities for survival in his surroundings, he can still live a sustainable life.

He holds high a rider friend of his named George, and when George marries a widow named Rose, Phil gets jealous and makes it his mission to frustrate her mentally. The movie portrays Benedict Cumberbatch as a man who is full of insecurities and the only way his behaviour is evident is when he projects it on other people

In case you are wondering what to watch during your free time or on weekends, the list above will give you an easy time to decide.
